AUGUST 2023 HOLIDAY IN PH – Here is a guide on the regular holiday and the special non-working day in the country this month.

Undeniably, a lot of Filipinos await the holidays. To most people, it means opportunities to spend some quality time with their families and friends in an out-of-town trip while to others, it means getting additional pays that can be of big help to augment the financial needs.

This August 2023, there is one regular holiday in PH which falls on the 28th day of the month. The holiday is for the celebration of the National Heroes’ Day in the country. It is a day to honor the people who have fought for the freedom of the Philippines thousands of years ago.

On August 28, classes in schools, work duties in the government, and most work duties in the private sector are cancelled but with pay. Meanwhile, employees who need to report to work will get an extra pay equivalent to one whole day of work. Here are the regular holidays this year:

  • Araw ng Kagitingan – April 10 (Monday nearest April 9)
  • Maundy Thursday – April 6
  • Good Friday – April 7
  • Labor Day – May 1 (Monday)
  • Independence Day – June 12 (Monday)
  • National Heroes Day – August 28 (last Monday of August)
  • Bonifacio Day – November 27 (Monday nearest November 30)
  • Christmas Day – December 25 (Monday)
  • Rizal Day – December 30 (Saturday)

Aside from the August 2023 holiday in PH on the 28th day of the month, August 21 will be a special non-working day for the Ninoy Aquino Day. Those who will be reporting to work on that day will get an additional pay equivalent to 30% of the daily salary rate of the employee. Here are the special non-working days this year:
