Medical courses are undeniably among those courses that many people wish to take. However, truth be told that many of those who aspired to become doctors and nurses just turned to other courses because they are not financially ready. Medical courses are among the most expensive courses in the Philippines.

On the other side, being a medical professional is both a noble and profitting profession. Truth be told that doctors are among the highest earners in the country.

In other cases, they managed to pursue a medical course despite poverty with the help of entities that offer scholarships. One of the state-entities that has a medical scholarship offer is the Commission on Higher Education, popularly called CHED.

There is an eligibility criteria in applying to be a scholar of CHED. Here are the eligibility requirements for the CHED Medical Scholarship application:

  • be an incoming freshmen college student
  • be a Filipino citizen
  • have a GWA of at least 90% in high school or the equivalent for freshmen applicants
  • not have a failing grade in any subject
  • not be a recipient of any other scholarship or financial assistance program
  • not have been enrolled in any undergraduate or graduate program before
  • be of good moral character
  • be in good health
  • not have any pending disciplinary action

There are also documentary requirements for the CHED Medical Scholarship application. Prepare and submit the following documents:

  • Certified true copy of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified true copy of Form 138 or report card
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character from the high school principal or guidance counselor
  • Birth certificate
  • Medical certificate from a licensed physician
  • Certificate of Indigency (if applicable)
  • Certificate of Non-Availability of Parents’ Income Tax Return (if applicable)
  • Two recent 2×2 ID pictures
