In Mandaue, Cebu, a fake policeman was arrested for convincing a girl to get into his car
MANDAUE – A guy who pretended to be a policeman was arrested by the authorities on Thursday, July 20, 202 after trying to convince a 15-year-old girl to get into his vehicle.
The suspect was identified by the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) as Gabriel Santino Tac-an, 31, a resident of Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City.
The fake policeman was apprehended after a girl, aged 15, reported to the authorities that a man she assumed to be pretending an officer convinced her to get into his sports utility vehicle. The name of the victim was withheld since she’s a minor.
The Basak Police Station of the MCPO, under the leadership of its station commander, Police Captain Emmanuel Rabaya, swiftly carried out an entrapment operation right after receiving the report. This resulted in the arrest of the guy pretending to be a policeman.
A police uniform, two sachets of suspected shabu with a street value of P1,020, one caliber .38 revolver with eight live ammunition, one caliber .45, two pieces, two handheld radio, and one bulletproof vest were among the items confiscated from the suspect according to a report of cebudailynews.inquirer.net.
Currently, the fake policeman is detained at the custodial facility of MCPO police station 3 (Basak PS). He’s facing multiple cases including Usurpation of Authority, violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
