ELVIS TOLENTINO – The head coach of the Marikina Shoemasters is receiving widespread criticism on social media following an incident during their Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) game on Tuesday night. A video captured Tolentino punching one of his players in the chest, which has sparked outrage among netizens.

The incident occurred during a timeout with only 14 seconds remaining in the game. With the Marikina Shoemasters trailing Pasig City MCW Sports, Tolentino, visibly enraged, approached his point guard, Felipe Chavez, and began shouting at him.

In the viral video, Tolentino can be seen delivering a closed-fist punch to Chavez’s chest and subsequently grabbing him by the back of his jersey multiple times. This aggressive behavior shocked even some players from the opposing Pasig City team.

The circulating video clip has triggered anger and indignation among numerous individuals on social media, who express their dismay and disapproval of Tolentino’s actions. The Marikina head coach’s behavior has been widely criticized, with comments such as “Konsehal Elvis nman oh grabe bah!” (Councilor Elvis, this is too much!) and “Hindi makatarungan ang ginawa niya” (What he did is unjust).

It is important to note that Tolentino also holds a position as a councilor in Marikina City. The MPBL game ultimately ended with a 71-66 defeat for the Marikina Shoemasters against Pasig City.
