MPBL Coach Caught on Cam Spitting at Rival Player; Faces 1 Month Suspension, 60K Fine

YONG GARCIA – The assistant coach of the San Juan Knights who was caught on camera spitting at a rival player during a game in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) faced a 1-month suspension and fine of P60,000.

It was during a basketball match when San Juan Knights player Judel Fuentes and Valenzuela City MJAS Zenith player Lordy Casajeros had a confrontation.

Because of the tense situation, Garcia found no way to get indulge in the situation and resorted to spitting on the shoulder of Casajeros.

Apparently, Garcia was caught on camera spitting on Casajeros.

The video spread like a wildfire and the latter was heavily criticized.

Eventually, he apologized for his rude behavior.

Casajeros, on the other hand, couldn’t believe what the assistant coach did.

According to him, it was the worst experience he ever had in his basketball career.

He added that he could take the “pangbababoy” or “murahin” but not spitting which he called very “unprofessional.”

Casajeros urged the Games and Amusements Board to look into the incident.

Meanwhile, Garcia faces a one-month suspension along with a P60,000 fine by MPBL.

The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men’s professional basketball league founded by Senator Manny Pacquiao on August 29, 2017.

The league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association or PBA which is said to be the country’s top professional basketball league, rather features both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor.
