Netizens react to the declaration of Melai Francisco that Jolina Magdangal is the ‘Tunay na Pop Culture Icon’
JOLINA MAGDANGAL – The declaration of Melai Cantiveros stating that her co-host on Magandang Buhay is the “Tunay na Pop Culture Icon” sparked a range of reactions among netizens.
Recently, the judges for The Voice Generations were introduced, including award-winning international singer, dancer, and host Billy Crawford; multi-awarded and best-selling recording artist Julie Anne San Jose; Stell, the lead singer and choreographer of the popular P-pop boy group SB19; and Chito Miranda, the Filipino rockstar and lead singer of Parokya Ni Edgar.
During the introduction, Julie Anne was initially referred to as the “Pop Icon Coach,” but due to criticisms from Jolina’s fans, it was later changed to the “Limitless Star Coach.” Jolina, on the other hand, has been dubbed as the Queen of Pinoy Popular Culture or simply the Pop Icon.
Following Melai’s declaration of her as the “true pop culture icon” during an episode of their morning talk show, it sparked mixed reactions among netizens. Some netizens did not receive Melai’s declaration well.
Fans of Julie Anne San Jose argued that Jolina is not being discredited of her title as a pop icon. As of press time, the Kapuso actress-singer has not responded to the criticism she has been receiving from Jolina Magdangal’s fans.
Meanwhile, Magdangal is regarded in the Philippines as a popular culture icon (Pop Icon) for bringing popular culture into a wider audience since the 1990s. She was credited to have built a legacy that goes beyond film, television, and music.
