Man from Spain Holds World Record for Fastest 100-Meter Dash While Wearing High Heels

While wearing high heels, a man from Spain holds the world record for the fastest 100-meter dash

GWR – A man from Spain named Christian Roberto López Rodríguez currently holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest 100-meter dash while wearing high heels.

Wearing 2.76-inch stiletto heels, he completed the 100 meters in just 12.82 seconds. The 34-year-old man is considered a “serial world record-breaker.” This achievement marks his 57th Guinness World Record. GNR shared Christian’s latest record on its official Instagram page on June 23, 2023.

Comparatively, Christian’s recorded time falls 3.24 seconds short of the current 100-meter sprint world record held by Jamaican runner and eight-time Olympic gold-medalist Usain Bolt. However, Bolt did not compete wearing high heels.

In an interview with GNR following the official clocking, Christian said, “The preparation was very exhaustive and specific. I find it very challenging to be able to run in high heels at high speed.” He further explained, “In Spain, there are races like this, and they have always gone well for me.”

Christian’s new record surpassed the previous record set by André Ortolf of Germany, who recorded 14.02 seconds in the same category in 2019. Among his other world records are balancing various objects on his chin, including a bicycle.

In addition to running in high heels, he also holds titles for the 100-meter sprint under different conditions. Some of these include running blindfolded, wearing a sack, and wearing clogs. He also holds the record for the fastest 100-meter sprint performed backward.

As a Type 1 diabetic, Christian has a deep-rooted motivation for attempting to set a new record while wearing high heels. He aims to show people with disabilities that they can accomplish many things, even surpassing what healthy individuals can achieve.
