Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup makes clarification on controversial Top 10 announcement at MUPH
SHAMCEY SUPSUP – The national director of Miss Universe Philippines took to social media to address the recent controversy and provide some clarity on what transpired after the announcement of the top 10.
On Facebook, the beauty pageant titleholder shared that after the announcement, which relied on independently tabulated results from the accounting firm, the same results were forwarded to the MUPh board for record-keeping. However, upon careful examination of the figures, their attention was drawn to the remarkably unlikely nature of the numbers. This led to concerns that the integrity of the results might have been compromised.
Shamcey Supsup stressed that to be able to guarantee complete fairness and transparency, the board decided to commence a manual counting of the judges’ votes. This thorough process was carried out with great care and in the presence of the accounting firm. Consequently, it became apparent that there were inconsistencies in the initial top 10 results.
As a result, the organization made the decision to permit all 18 candidates to participate in the evening gown segment of the competition. She noted that their main objective as an organization is to foster integrity, transparency, and accountability in every aspect of the pageant. They firmly believe in offering equal opportunities to all candidates and in taking the right course of action regardless of the potential consequences.
In the last part of her post, she thanked their loyal supporters for understanding and unwavering belief in the Miss Universe Philippines organization.
