The Heartwarming Story of Jhed Diokno and Kazuha the Cat
JHED DIOKNO – A second-year Psychology student from Kawit, Cavite, earned the praises of netizens after taking care of a cat with eye complications that he found along the road.
In an interview with Balita, Diokno shared that he had just come from school in Imus, Cavite when he saw the cat, which he named “Kazuha”, on the road in a critical condition. “Kinabahan po [ako], kasi syempre kitang kita ko ‘yung mata niya na halos lumuwa na. Then sobrang dami niyang blood, ‘yung trousers ko na white nagka-blood na rin since na bangga nya nga ako,” said Diokno.
He added that he was shocked and couldn’t move for more than three minutes before picking up the cat and abandoning the kwek kwek he was eating. He then immediately searched for the nearest veterinarian to treat Kazuha.
Diokno visited Kazuha every day after school and encouraged her to be strong. He is grateful that the cat’s condition has improved after a week of being in the vet’s care, despite the fact that she has not been able to open her eyes again. “Sadly she wasn’t able to open her eyes again po, as in closed na siya. But so far, she’s healthy and playful,” said Diokno.
Diokno promised to be the cat’s eyes for the rest of her life and shared the story on the Facebook group ‘CATS & KITTENS Philippines’. Many netizens were touched by his post, which has now garnered over 2,300 reactions, 300 comments, and 44 shares.
