With regards to the days when classes and most work are suspended, it could either be a regular holiday in the Philippines or a special non-working day. If it is a regular holiday, there is really a red mark in the calendar for the said date and it is a constant holiday every year. For this year 2023, here is a list of the regular holidays including the holiday today, May 1, which is for the celebration of the Labor Day:
