Gigi de Lana responds to “nagkasakit kasi puro sigaw” comment from bashers
GIGI DE LANA – The singer defended herself against online critics who blamed her frequent belting for the nodules in her throat.
On April 26, 2023, Gigi announced to her fans that she was suffering from throat nodules, which are “noncancerous growths” on the vocal cords caused by excessive use of the voice, leading to irritation in the vocal cords. Because of this, large “growths” develop in the throat, which can enlarge if not rested.
Gigi’s doctor has advised her to rest her voice. She asked her fans to include her in their prayers for a speedy recovery. Despite her health issues, Gigi has not escaped criticism from online bashers.
On Sunday, April 30, 2023, she shared on Twitter the criticism she received about her nodules. She was disappointed that critics were judging her without knowing the real reason behind her illness. She expressed her frustration and sadness at people who assume that she has throat nodules because of her belting.
Gigi said she was singing to support her mother who has cancer. She also thanked her supporters who sent well wishes and prayers for her recovery and for her mother’s health.
Gigi, whose real name is Mary Gidget Dela Llana, is a singer-actress. She rose to fame when she became part of It’s Showtime singing competition, Tawag ng Tanghalan. Apparently, she did not clinch the grand finals after being eliminated during the semifinals
Gigi is part of the band called Gigi Vibes Band composed of Jon Cruz, LA Arquero, Harvy Jake Manalo, and Romeo Pastre Marquez. Her group regularly holds jamming sessions, live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube as well as concerts locally and abroad.
