Fashion designer Bessie Besana: “I have worked with so many brides to know that choosing your wedding dress designer is a big decision to make“
FASHION DESIGNER – New York-based designer Bessie Besana shared the story behind the wedding gown of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
It was last May 5, 2023 when Pia announced on her social media account that she tied the knot with travel entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey last March 24, 2023. She also shared some dreamy scenes from their intimate beach wedding in Seychelles, East Africa.
Bessie posted a series of photos on his social media account and also shared the story behind Pia’s wedding gown.
In the series of photos posted on Bessie’s Instagram account, Pia Wurtzbach can be seen wearing a strapless figure-hugging wedding gown that is made of godets, panels, and appliqués.
Bessie went on to share how Pia – his dear friend – personally asked him to create a custom-made gown for her wedding day.
“On the quiet morning of November 8, 2022, Pia asked if I can have breakfast in a restaurant in SoHo in New York,” Bessie said. “While we were chatting over croissants and how the wedding of Carla is gonna happen in a few weeks.”
According to him, Pia casually proposed hiring him for her bridal gown.

Bessie also shared that Pia told him that she wanted a friend to make her wedding dress and she’s hoping it would be him. He added that the beauty queen told him that she wanted him to be a part of her wedding.
The fashion designer then said that he wasn’t able to respond immediately because he didn’t think he was even going to be an option at that time.
“I admittedly cried a little inside and felt some tears starting to build up at the end of my eyes because I was sincerely touched by her decision,” he said in the caption of his social media post.
He also shared how working with the beauty queen on her wedding gown went so smoothly, saying that he was happy with how much trust Pia has given him with his suggestions and technical decisions at that time.
Bessie ended his social media post by expressing his gratitude to his dear friend for giving him a fond memory in the name of their friendship.
