President Bongbong Marcos: “Marami namang magaling na hindi nanalo sa eleksyon na gustong tumulong.”
BONGBONG MARCOS – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is eyeing the possible appointment to the Cabinet of some candidates who lost in the 2022 elections.
The 1987 Constitution states that no candidate who has lost in any election shall “be appointed to any office in the Government or any government-owned or -controlled corporations or in any of their subsidiaries” within one year after such election.
There’s a one-year Constitutional ban implemented for political candidates who lost during the May 2022 elections in order to avoid allegations of impropriety or conflict of interests in the selection of government officials.
In an interview aboard PR001 en route to Washington DC, the President told reporters that there are some losing candidates who want to help.
“Marami namang magaling na hindi nanalo sa eleksyon na gustong tumulong. So we will certainly look into that in different positions,” the President said. “But more or less for the beginning of the second year of my term, palagay ko, mayroong, not a shuffle, but we will add to the Cabinet to strengthen the Cabinet.”

The President, however, refused to reveal the names of those he’s planning to appoint to his Cabinet. According to the President, he would need to talk to them personally as they “should not hear it naman from the press”.
