Netizens are impressed with the portrait of Kathryn Bernardo by Chaboy Dela Cruz
KATHRYN BERNARDO – Charcoal and graphite artist “Chaboy Dela Cruz” impressed the netizens with his artwork, a portrait of the Kapamilya star.
Upon seeing his artwork, it is evident that Chaboy perfectly captured the facial features of Kathryn, making it look like a photograph. “Sino ba naman ako para manotice mo Kathryn Bernardo,” Chaboy wrote in his Facebook post, along with a photo of his artwork.
In another Facebook post, he shared a comparison photo between the reference and his drawing of Kathryn Bernardo. He used charcoal and graphite on vellum to create the portrait. He cropped the original reference and added it to the drawing to complete Kathryn’s arm and achieve balance. He also added dark shade tones to make it more lively, and since Kathryn has a slightly morena complexion, it suits the portrait well.
In an interview with Balita, Chaboy shared his creative process in making the portrait. He chose Kathryn because she is his “ultimate crush.” He spent 40 hours creating the portrait, using charcoal and graphite pencils.
“I’m a fan boy of her since then, and ilang beses ko na s’yang drinawing but hopefully this time manoticed n’ya na ako,” Chaboy pleaded. He also plans to draw other celebrities like Liza Soberano, Ariana Grande, Kitty Duterte, and more.
Chaboy also went viral because of an encounter with a female client who threw a bible verse at him after he asked if he would be paid for his portrait commission.
