Here’s the reaction of Morissette Amon after being compared to Charice Pempengco
MORISSETTE AMON – Asia’s Phoenix has finally broken her silence after being compared to Charice Pempengco, who’s now known as Jake Zyrus.
Previously, Morissette and Charice made a buzz online. This was after Jake’s mother Raquel Pempengco compared the two, claiming that her child was better compared to Asia’s Phoenix after watching her performance with David Foster during the latter’s show at the Theatre in Solaire in March 2023.
Morissette did not speak up about the comparison at the time. But during a digital media conference with Martin Nievera on April 28, 2023, she finally addressed the issue and stated that she saw her participation in David Foster’s Manila concert as a success for all Filipinos and that every opportunity for artists to share the stage with international acts was a win for Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
She also expressed admiration for Charice’s singing and said it would be an honor to collaborate with Jake Zyrus someday.
“For me, every opportunity that us, artists, get to be able to share the stage with international acts is a win not only for the artist but a win for OPM. So, I take it as me given the opportunity to do that naman—after Charice or Jake Zyrus did it before—is a blessing for me and OPM still,” she said according to PEP.ph.
“With the many countries and the many places that David Foster could be having his shows, he still chooses to come back to the Philippines. And to be able to choose artists, such as me and Tito Martin, and be a part of the show, ang galing talaga ng Pinoy. So it’s really a win for everyone and not just for the artists,” she added.
Meanwhile, Morissette Amon also mentioned that her upcoming U.S. tour with Martin is already sold out. At present, she is busy preparing for her first movie, Song of the Fireflies.
