Doc Willie Ong Warns Public vs Fake Ads and Scammer Pages

Doc Willie Ong: “Mag-iingat tayo sa mga fake ads, mga scam na Facebook page, [at] huwag tayong magpapaloko”

DOC WILLIE ONG – The media personality and cardiologist recently warned the public against fake ads and scammer pages in social media sites.

To recall, Kris Aquino, through her legal counsel, issued a demand letter to take down the advertisement posted on “Doc. Willie & Liza Ong” Facebook page and to “cease and desist” from using her “name and image” in their posts on social media.

With this, Doc Willie Ong posted a video on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday where he warned the public against fake ads and scammer pages, saying that he only endorsed “Birch Tree Advance for Seniors”.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, he said that scammers victimize some social media influencers and celebrities by creating fake Facebook pages just to advertise something to the public.

He also said that his Facebook page is “Doc Willie Ong”, has a blue verified checkmark, and has 17 million followers.

In a separate post on Facebook, he posted a photo of a fake advertisement and said that he doesn’t own nor endorse those products online.

Notice to the Public: These are all obviously fake ads and scammer pages. And Ms Kris Aquino and her lawyers may have been misled by these fake ads which are not mine po,” he said. “I do not own nor endorse these products. Please be careful po.

Doc Willie Ong also said that he’s not the endorser or the owner of those fake Facebook pages using his name. He added that the fake ads issue is a “worldwide problem” of social media influencers.

According to him, all Facebook pages with only a few followers using his name are fake pages and he has no control on what fake pictures posted on fake pages.

I have reported this to FB for the past 5 years with little success since the scammers just keep making new FB accounts,” he said. “This is a problem of many influencers. I hope you can clarify this so as not to harm my reputation. Salamat po.
