President Bongbong Marcos on Holy Week: “It was a good time to take a breath”

BONGBONG MARCOS – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr said that he’s able to have a “very quiet” Holy Week this year.

It was last week when the President said in an interview with reporters in Mariveles, Bataan that he would have a retreat during the Holy Week and also planned to spend Easter Sunday with his family.

On Monday, President Bongbong Marcos graced the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan at Mt. Samat National Shrine in Bataan.

On the sidelines of the Araw ng Kagitingan commemoration, the President said in an interview with reporters that he’s able to take a breath and think very hard during the Holy Week this year.

According to the President, he did his usual routine where he went into retreat. He also said that he’s able to practice fasting on Good Friday as well.

Very good. Very quiet. I did, as I said, I did my usual routine where I went into retreat,” the President said. “It was a good time to take a breath, take a step back, take long walks, and think very hard about what it is that we have to do.

To recall, Malacañang issued Memorandum Circular No. 16 declaring a half-day work day on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, for government workers under the Executive Branch.

The President was also asked if the pension for war veterans will increase.

President Marcos said that his administration is looking at strengthening the pension system of Filipino war veterans, adding that his government would look for things that could be given to the war veterans once a stable pension system is established.

However, President Marcos clarified that the reform of the pension system for war veterans is not included in the reform being pushed by his administration for retired military and uniformed personnel (MUP).
