Westlife Singer Nicky Byrne Jokes to the Audience during Latest Manila Concert

Irish Boyband Westlife Visits Philippines Once Again for Concert

Westlife singer Nicky Byrne threw a joke to the audience during their band’s latest concert in Manila last January.

Many people love Westlife, an Irish band that is now composed of four gentlemen from Ireland. The boyband members are Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily. Singer Brian McFadden is a former member of the band who chose to go solo on his career.

The band was formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1998. They were just teen guys then and now most of them already have their own families. The group disbanded in 2012 after 14 years. It broke the hearts of their fans and supporters.

In 2018, the four remaining Westlife members, Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily, and Kian Egan, reunited. They started doing concerts and world tours again.

Recently, Westlife returned to the Philippines. Their concert in Manila was the 50th show of their The Wild Dreams Tour. It was held at the Araneta Coliseum. The sold-out show gathered thousands of fans and supporters at the venue listening, singing along, crying, and shouting for joy as they watch the band.

Based on an article on Pep, during the Westlife concert at Araneta Coliseum, singer Nicky Byrne joked to the audience. He recalled that during their first concert in the Philippines several years ago, they were only 18 and 19 years of age. They arrived to thousands of fans at the airport and some were banging the glass and the doors.

“So the police and security told us, ‘So many people, we’re need loads of you know, police to get you out,” the singer said.

The Westlife singers expected the same scene upon their recent arrival at the Philippine airport. Based on the article, talking to the crowd, Nicky Byrne joked that none of those who were at the concert was there at the airport.

“Not one of you… You’ve all grown up. You got your own children,” he said which drew laughter from the audience.

The band members assured the audience that they will keep coming back to the country for as long as they have fans here.
