Justice Secretary Boying Remulla Speaks on Accusations vs. Cong. Arnie Teves
JUSTICE SECRETARY BOYING REMULLA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary cited the links tying Congressman Arnie Teves in Degamo slay.
Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnie Teves is accused by one of the suspects in the killing of Governor Roel Degamo as the “mastermind” behind the plot. The Governor was attacked at his compound in Pamplona last March 4 which resulted to his death and the passing of his ally and several civilians.
Three (3) suspects in the death of the Governor were arrested by the authorities five (5) hours after the attack. Amid the accusation against him, Cong. Teves who is in abroad when the incident happened refused to go home to the Philippines.
The travel clearance of Cong. Arnie Teves expired last March 9, 2023. However, he refused to go home to the country citing the concern over his safety. His extended stay abroad came amid the authorities offering to extend efforts for his security when he comes home to the country.
Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla previously confirmed that Cong. Arnie Teves is being considered as one of the masterminds behind the killing of Gov. Roel Degamo. The wife of the Governor, Pamplona Mayor Janice Degamo, believes that only only Arnie but as well as his brother, Pryde Henry Teves whom Degamo unseated, are allegedly behind the attack.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Justice Secretary Boying Remulla stressed the clear links tying Cong. Arnie Teves to the death of Negros Oriental Gov. Roeld Deguma. The DOJ Secretary pointed out that the suspects stayed in the “safehouse” owned by the Treves family.
“It was a place controlled by the Teves family where these armed men were staying, where they were recruited and were given jobs. They were already being asked to do things for the Teves kin and directing it through one of his trusted men was Arnie Teves,” the DOJ Secretary said.
Justice Secretary Boying Remulla stressed that there is a link when the suspects are staying in the place of someone who is accused as the mastermind in the case.
