David Licauco: “In-accept ko ‘tong ‘Maria Clara,’ honestly, kasi …”
DAVID LICAUCO – The “Pambansang Ginoo” recently shared the reason why he accepted the role of “Fidel” in Kapuso teleserye “Maria Clara at Ibarra”.
The actor appeared in the latest episode of Ogie Diaz’s vlog wherein he spoke about his life as an actor and as a businessman. In an interview, David told Ogie that he wanted to quiz showbiz before he got his breakthrough role in the series.
According to him, he wanted to focus on his businesses – the restaurants Sobra Café and Kuya Korea.
He also said that it seems acting has overtaken his love for his businesses.
“Never ko ‘to naisip buong buhay ko. Kasi nga, bago mag ‘Maria Clara,’ Mama Ogie, gusto ko na mag-stop,” he said. “Parang na-overtake na ‘yung love ko sa business ‘yung acting eh.”

David went on to reveal the reason why he accepted the role in the series, saying that he accepted it because “wala na akong pera” as he invested everything in his businesses. The actor remains grateful for the opportunities “Maria Clara at Ibarra” gave him and is also thankful for the love of his supporters.
He also revealed that everything he has now – his watch, car, condo unit, – is from showbiz and he’s thankful for it because he doesn’t know where he would be today without showbiz.
In the same interview, the actor revealed the reason why he entered the showbiz industry. He shared that he did it because his strict parents, especially his mother, didn’t allow him to go out of the house.
“All my life, strict talaga yung mommy ko,” David said. “Hindi niya ako pinapayagan, so ang excuse ko, ‘Ma, meron akong VTR’, ‘meron akong fashion show’, ‘meron akong photoshoot’ pero wala naman talaga.”
