Bela Padilla Says She Wants To Try Other Film Genres After 2023

Bela Padilla: “More than that, I want more introspective films.”

BELA PADILLA – The actress and director wants to try other film genres as she will take a break from love stories after 2023.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the “Yung Libro sa Napanood Ko” star said that she asked the blessing of Viva Films’ producer Vic del Rosario if she can shift to other film genres.

Let’s see. Seventeen years old pa lang ako, I was already doing muay Thai. More than that, I want more introspective films. The journey of a person. Mas quiet. Something like ‘The Glory’,” she said.

Bela has charted memorable romance-dramas to date – including “100 Tula Para Kay Stella”, “Meet Me in St. Gallen”, “The Day After Valentine’s”, and “On Vodka, Beers and Regrets” (2020).

According to her, she’s still most comfortable as an actress but she’s glad that she’s being given the opportunity to keep on directing.

In the same interview, she told ABS-CBN News that she felt more pressure in her second directorial job compared to her first directorial job in the film “366”. Bela is an actress, writer, and director of her latest project “Yung Libro sa Napanood Ko”.

She also shared that the original title of the said film was “If,” but del Rosario told her to use “Yung Libro sa Napanood Ko” instead.

Si Boss Vic, meron siyang pakiramdam if something was going to work or not,” Bela said. “When he heard ‘If,’ he told me, ‘Huwag mong gamitin ang ‘If.’ Gamitin mo ‘Yung Libro sa Napanood Ko’.

Aside from this, she also shared that she wrote the script of “Yung Libro sa Napanood Ko” before the pandemic, after she watched the South Korean drama “Because This is My First Life” last 2017.
