Cong. Arnie Teves Yet To Return to PH Amid Calls from Family To Go Home
ARNIE TEVES – The camp of the Congressman revealed that he made requests to House Speaker Martin Romualdez and he will go home if they’re granted.
Negros Oriental 3rd District Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr. was implicated by one of the suspects as the alleged mastermind in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo. He was attacked by men wearing pixelated uniform at his compound last March 4.
Degamo, his ally, and several civilians fell victim to the attack which took place on a Saturday. Many civilians were at the compound of the Governor then to seek for help.
Cong. Arnie Teves maintained his innocence on the death of Gov. Roel Degamo. According to him, he and the late Governor are both victims in what is happening now. He stressed that he wants to come home to the Philippines but he is concerned about his safety when he comes home. He stressed that the pool of army in the area of the Governor was not even able to spare him from death.
Teves was in the United States when he first released a statement saying that he got an information that he will be pinned down in the case. His younger brother, Pryde Henry Teves, previously revealed the stand of their family who is hoping for him to come home and face the allegations.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the camp of Cong. Arnie Teves expressed that he will come home if his requests to House Speaker Martin Romualdez will be granted and he will feel safe. However, according to his lawyer, Attorney Ferdinand Topacio, some of the requests will be accommodated but the other requests are not allowed so the Congressman can yet go home.
Teves was given until March 21 by the House of Representatives to appear at Batasang Pambansa. He did not show up and he is now suspended from his congressional seat for 60 days.
