Sheryn Regis speaks on hurtful words she received from bashers

SHERYN REGIS – The singer recalled during her guesting on Magandang Buhay the hurtful words she received from a basher.

Sheryn is a singer-songwriter who rose to stardom when she won as runner-up to Erik Santos in Search for the Star in a Million, a singing competition.

After the competition, Regis became known for singing theme songs from TV series on ABS-CBN including Marina, Krystala, Kampanerang Kuba, Gulong ng Palad, Maria Flordeluna and Prinsesa ng Banyera.

Sheryn met Earl Echiverri (cousin of Caloocan mayor Enrico Echiverri) while working as a lounge singer at the Cebu Plaza Hotel. They married in 2002, and were blessed to have a child named Lourdes, the following year. However, after being together for a long time, they decided to separate.

It was in 2021 when she came out as a lesbian. At the time, she revealed that she’s in a relationship with Mel De Guia, a YouTuber and entrepreneur.

It was just recently when she appeared on Magandang Buhay along with fellow singers Dessa and Kakai Bautista. During their guesting, they shared the hurtful words they received from bashers.

According to Sheryn, among the hurtful words she received from a basher is “Mamamatay na yan.” At the time, she suffered from throat cancer but fortunately got cured. Sheryn Regis considered those words not just bashing but also a curse.

Dubbed the “Crystal Voice of Asia”, Sheryn is best known for her hits such as “Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka”, “Kailan Kaya”, “Come In Out of the Rain”, and “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw”.
