It was just recently when Ellen Adarna took to social media, particularly on her Instagram Stories wherein she posted a video of her husband Derek Ramsay. In the video, the actor-model can be seen putting up a Philippine flag while a Chinese sign is displayed outside their neighbor’s house. Her post was accompanied by the caption: “I like the view”.

It appears that the video might have been taken down or just expired. The video was uploaded on various platforms and as expected, it didn’t sit well with the Filipino-Chinese community or Chinoys.

Among those who reacted to the video of Derek Ramsay is no less than Filipino Chinese television personality, Richard Juan. On Twitter, he retweeted the video posted by Adarna via Inquirer.

“The sad truth is, despite HUNDREDS OF YEARS of history in the Philippines, it’s the unwelcoming actions like this that makes us Chinoys feel like we STILL don’t belong here,” he noted. It was accompanied by the hashtag, #ProudChinoy.

Meanwhile, Richard Juan is a Filipino Chinese TV personality, actor, host, and entrepreneur who grew up in Hong Kong before returning to the Philippines, where he was born and holds citizenship. He rose to prominence after appearing on Eat Bulaga! ‘s “You’re My Foreignoy.” He was also a regular housemate on Pinoy Big Brother: 737.

Juan used to be a part-time model before becoming a TV personality. He began modeling for school event posters. He eventually got his first modeling gig through Philippine Fashion Week: Spring Summer 2014.
