Ferdinand Magellan Jr. is trending on Twitter
FERDINAND MAGELLAN JR. – The made up name trended on the microblogging site, Twitter, after President Bongbong Marcos was featured in an episode of American game show “Jeopardy!”
Jeopardy!, an American game show, is a quiz competition that reverses the traditional question-and-answer format of many quiz shows. Contestants are given general knowledge clues in the form of answers rather than questions, and they must choose the person, place, thing, or idea that the clue depicts while wording each response as a question.
During the wager round of the game, the players were asked which nation has had a president since 2022 who has “taken so many foreign trips” and has a play on his name, “Ferdinand Magellan Jr” and the correct answer is the Philippines.
Following his feature on the American game show, the made up name Ferdinand Magellan Jr. became a trending topic on the microblogging site, Twitter, with some posting a side by side photo of Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., the 17th and current president of the Republic of the Philippines.
Here are the tweets of some netizens:
