Netizens praise a stroke survivor lolo selling “maruya”

STROKE SURVIVOR – An elderly man who had survived a stroke was seen selling “maruya” on the street in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, even in broad daylight.

“Sakaling madaanan ninyo si Tatay Wilfredo na tinutulak ang kaniyang paninda, bilihan n’yo naman siya para may makain siya sa maghapon,” plead Puerto Princesa City Councilor Elgin Damasco who shared the story of Tatay Wilfredo on social media.

Reportedly, the councilor found out that Tatay Wilfredo had a stroke and recovered in 2015. He said that his wife and children left him so he now lives alone. He has to find ways to have something to eat on a daily basis. So what he does, he buys cooked banana cues as well as maruya and sell them. Presently, he’s staying at the Baranggay Hall of Brgy. Liwanag, near the Cathedral.

Damasco promised to help the old man, a stroke survivor, through the local government of Puerto Princesa. The netizens, on the other hand, salute the hard work and determination of Tatay Wilfredo.

A netizen commented: “Saludo po ako sa inyo, tatay.” Another netizen wrote: “Mabuti pa si tatay, kahit nahihirapan na, gora pa rin magbanat-buto, hindi kagaya ng iba na tatamad-tamad na nga, puro pa reklamo sa buhay.”

Although he will refer Tatay Wilfredo to the local govenment of Puerto Princesa, he called on for the netizens to extend help to the elderly. According to him, for those who want to give or extend their help, they may reach him (the councilor) thru social media.
