Filipinos generally value honesty. Stories about returning lost and found items to the owners or surrendering them to the authorities were common in the country. Along with being friendly, Filipinos are respected as upright citizens everywhere. But what exactly does honesty entail?

The term “honesty” refers to a quality of moral character and implies virtues like integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness, as well as the absence of deceptions like lying, cheating, and theft. Honesty also entails being dependable, obedient, impartial, and true.

Speaking of, a security guard identified as Albert Bautista was praised anew for his honesty after returning to the owner the bag he found containing P1.4 million in cash. Bautista is said to be the same security personnel who returned bag containing a large sum of money to a foreigner in 2017.

It was on January 4, 2023 when he found a trolly bag at the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 2. He immediately reported his discovery to the airport police on duty. In their inventory, they found out that the bag contains 1.4 million pesos in cash.

Because of his honesty, Bautista, who has been working as airport security for 12 years, received a letter of commendation from Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Cesar Chiong. Apart from this, he was also given a reward by the owner of the bag.
