To recall, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr has directed the state health insurer to defer the scheduled contribution hike for this year based on the current economic conditions.

On Tuesday, PhilHealth spokesperson Rey Baleña said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB that the suspension of the premium rate increase and the raising of the income ceiling to PHP 90,000 wouldn’t affect its operations.

Baleña also said that the current benefits packages will not have any changes and only the new benefits packages will have a possible adjustment in deployment.

Baleña also said the state health insurer will be reviewing its benefit plan for 2023 in light of the suspension of premium rate hike in order to assess the adjustments on the implementation of some benefit packages.

To recall, Baleña said last month that the increase in contribution rate will be used to further enhance the “KonSulTa (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama)” package or the primary care benefit package of the state health insurer.

Baleña also said that the primary care benefit package of the state health insurer will provide consultations, health-risk screenings, laboratory tests, and medicines.
