MAHAL! – Some social media users said that they were “traumatized” by the endearment amid the breakup of McCoy de Leon and Elisse Joson or McLisse.
The real-life partners were among the latest showbiz couple to have broken up. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that their relationship was on the rocks.
It fueled following a photo of McCoy along with a certain Mary Joy Santiago. The latter has been tagged as the reason behind the split of McLisse.
Eventually, McCoy confirmed that he and Elisse called it quits. In a series of Instagram Stories on Wednesday night, he apologized to those who were hurt and affected by what happened between them.
The actor also denied reports circulating online that there was a third party involved in their breakup. Amid their apparent breakup, the name of a certain Mary Joy Santiago was dragged into the issue. Some netizens claimed that she was the girl behind their split.
However, McCoy de Leon did not discuss what caused their relationship to fall apart. Netizens alleged that the “Deleter” star might have cheated on his partner, with whom he has a daughter named Felize.
Because of their breakup, some netizens were traumatized by their endearment “mahal” since almost all showbiz couple having this kind of endearment ends breaking up with each other. Among those who use the “mahal” endearment were Aljur Abrenica to Kylie Padilla and Paolo Contis to LJ Reyes.
Netizens were able to screengrab their respective posts before in which they are using the said endearment. This became a topic on the Facebook page “Homepaslupa Buddies 3.0”. Even social media personality “Senyora” gave her two cents about using the said endearment.
