Netizens react following the arrest of 80-Year-Old lolo due to illegal possession of firearm
SENIOR CITIZEN’S ARREST – Netizens gave mixed reactions to the case of an 80-year-old lolo who was arrested due to illegal possession of firearm.
The elderly man identified as Bambaran Bantog, a resident of Sitio West, Brgy.Tatawayan, North Tamparan in Lanao del Sur, was arrested in connection with the violation of Republic Act 1780. The latter was apprehended in pursuant to the warrant of arrest issued and signed by Hon. January Faye L. Resonar-Bello, Presiding Judge MTCC, 11th Judicial Court Region Davao City on November 15, 2021.
Earlier, Bnbnews PHILIPPINES/Public Affairs reported the arrest of the 80-year-old senior citizen along with a certain Malic Banto Macaundas also known as Malic, 33, and Basim Undong Dicretan, 52. The two were also chared for illegal possion of firearm. But the authorities were able to retrieve suspected shabu from their operation. Bnbnews, on the other hand, clarified that the old man has nothing to do with the illegal drugs.
Accordingly, the elderly may avail temporary freedom after posting recommended bail of three thousand pesos (P3,000). It is possible that Mr. Bantog made a violation against the law during his younger years. However, his case was not given much attention.
Meanwhile, the elderly man was on a wheelchair when a mugshot of him was taken. His arrest earned the sentiments of netizens, crying out for “justice”. Here are the comments of some netizens:
