Pantone announced that Viva Magenta (18-1750) is the company’s Color of The Year. According to the company, Viva Magenta is expressive of a “new signal of strength” as it “vibrates with vim and vigor”.

Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative,” the company said.

The company also said that it explores the dynamic between human creativity and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to create “The Magentaverse”. It added that Viva Magenta is a “transformative red tone” that is capable of driving design to create a more positive future.

Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman said that in the age of technology, they look to draw inspiration from nature and what’s real. According to her, Viva Magenta is inspired by the “red of cochineal”.

She also said that Viva Magenta “galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength”.

In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real,” Eiseman said. “Rooted in the primordial, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter.
