Here’s a compilation of memes about continuing onion price increase
ONION MEMES – Netizens have come up with funny and witty memes about the massive increase in the price of onions.
In the past few months, the rising prices of basic commodities, petroleum products, grocery products, and other necessary stuff add to the burden of Filipino people. The inflation rate has something to do with the surge in the price of goods.
Among the goods that massively increased in terms of pricing are red onions. As a matter of fact, the retail price of red onion in Metro Manila or the National Capital Region is around 280 to 300 pesos per kilo. Apparently, the Department of Agriculture (DA) couldn’t jump to conclusion that there is a supply shortage.
The agriculture department, headed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said that they will coordinate with the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) to determine what is the probable reason behind the increase from 180 pesos a year ago to 300.
Amid the surge in the price of onion, Iloilo Metropolitan Times compiled a series of witty memes on the onion price increase. Here’s the compilation:
Meanwhile, according to Agriculture Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista, the DA is expanding the number of Kadiwa locations where customers can purchase onions for just P170 per kilo. It was on November 16, the Kadiwa ng Pasko, which featured food items and products produced by micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, was introduced simultaneously across the nation.
