Justin Cuyugan on breakup with Dawn Chang: “It was very traumatic”
JUSTIN CUYUGAN – The actor has finally opened up about his breakup with actress-dancer Dawn Chang.
It was in 1999 when Cuyugan was launched as one of the newest talents of Star Magic. He rose to fame after appearing in the hit defunct series, Pusong Ligaw in 2017. The following year, he starred in the fantasy series Bagani as Gaki.
He was married to a non-showbiz personality named Carmi, with whom he had kids. However, the latter passed away in 2017 due to ovarian cancer. Previously, he dated actress and former GirlTrends member Dawn Chang. But after being in a relationship for three years, they decided to break up.
It was on July 2021 when Justin posted some cryptic messages on social media about a “narcissist” who hurt him as well as his decision to move out from the house where he and Dawn stayed. In an interview with PEP.ph, the actor shared that he did not expect that they going to split up.
“It was very traumatic. Of course, kasi hindi ko naman alam ang nangyayari. As what I’ve said, when it comes to relationship, ang naisip ko lagi is getting married,” he said. “On my part, sorry for my lack of word… I don’t f*ck around. When bad things started to happen, kahit naman ako, ‘Wow, nangyayari pala ito,” he added.
According to him, it became much heavier when he saw that his children are getting affected by their separation. Presently, Dawn is in a relationship with Atty. Ralph Calinisan.
