CSC Reminds Government Officials, Employees About “No Gift Policy”

CSC: “When in government service yung ating pagseserbisyo walang kapalit we are servicing the public”

CSC – The Civil Service Commission reminded government officials and employees about the “No Gift Policy”, especially this holiday season.

Accordiing to a report, CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada said that three laws prohibited the acceptance and/or asking of any government workers of gifts, services, and favors to the public.

These laws are the following: Presidential Decree No. 46, Republic Act No. 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees), and Republic Act No. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act).

Aside from receiving gifts, Lizada said that solicitation in any form is also prohibited as well. Lizada also reminded the heads of agencies to be an example to their respective employees.

Last November 14, Lizada said that regular government workers or plantilla position workers are entitled to a year-end bonus starting November 15.

Aside from the Civil Service Commission, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) also reminded their offices to “politely” decline all forms of gifts from taxpayers, especially this holiday season.

BIR Revenue Region VI Director Jethro Sabariaga said BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. directed them that “no gift policy” must be strictly observed “all year round”.
