Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles resigned
TRIXIE CRUZ-ANGELES – The press secretary resigned from her post on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, due to health reasons.
Rose Beatrix Lavia Cruz-Angeles is a Filipino lawyer and vlogger who served as the Press Secretary from June 30, 2022, to October 4, 2022.
Cruz-Angeles earned a law degree from the University of the Philippines (UP) in 1997. She is also studying international relations at the University of Minnesota in the United States and archeology at UP as of 2022.
Cruz-Angeles worked as a social media strategist in President Rodrigo Duterte’s Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) from July 2017 to 2018.
Cruz-Angeles was set to return to the PCOO when President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed her to lead the communication body as the Press Secretary.
But on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirmed that she has resigned from her post, citing health reasons.
“I resigned this morning, for health reasons,” she told Inquirer.net thru a Viber message.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had earlier administered oaths to newly appointed and re-appointed officials. Trixie Cruz-Angeles’ name, however, did not appear on the list of newly hired and rehired Cabinet members.
According to Malacanang, Marcos administered the oath of office to new Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and ten other Cabinet members who were reappointed after the powerful Commission on Appointments ‘bypassed’ their nominations.
Ivan John Uy, Secretary of Communications and Information Technology, was also not on the list of reappointed Cabinet members.
The Palace has yet to issue any statement regarding the resignation of Trixie Cruz-Angeles.
