DILG Orders LGUs To Intensify Campaign For National ID Registration
DILG to LGUs: “Enjoin your constituents to get a National ID”
DILG — On Tuesday, the Department of the Interior and Local Government called on local government units (LGUs) to intensify its campaign for the National ID registration.
DILG ordered LGUs to exert their efforts in urging their constituents to register for the National ID.
In a statement, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos called on LGUs to enjoin their constituents to get a National ID for easier authentication and validation of their identity in their transactions with banks, government offices, and other private entities.
“We again call on LGUs, especially the barangays, to extend their full support to the President and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in the National ID campaign,” Abalos said in a statement.

He also advised barangay captains to disseminate electronic and printed materials, to make roving announcements, and to share updates from the official social media pages of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
Citing data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as of July 1, the DILG said that only 75.3% (69.254 million of the 92 million target registrants) have signed up for the Philippine Identification System.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government made the call in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s pledge during his 1st State of the Nation Address to fast-track the delivery of almost 50 million National IDs by the end of this year.
According to a report, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) said in July that it is organizing “plaza-type” distributions of National IDs that owners failed to receive during delivery.
