After the hostage-taking, Jaime Fabregas calls on to free former Sen. Leila de Lima
JAIME FABREGAS – The veteran actor took to social media wherein he called on for the release of former Senator Leila de Lima following her hostage-taking.
De Lima was a politician who once served as secretary of the Justice department as well as a senator.
It was in 2017 when De Lima was arrested and detained at Camp Crame due to the charges filed against her by the Department of Justice (DOJ) over her alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade or violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
On Sunday, October 9, a hostage-taking incident involving the former took place at the Camp Crame Custodial Center.
Three detainees identified as Feliciano Sulayao Jr., Arnel Cabintoy, and Idang Susukan earlier tried to escape the facility.
Cabintoy and Susukan ganged up and stabbed a police officer while attempting to flee.
After witnessing the stabbing, another officer shot and killed Cabintoy and Susukan. This prompted Sulayao to storm into De Lima’s cell and held her hostage. He was later shot dead by a police officer.
Following the hostage-taking, veteran actor Jaime Fabregas called on to free the former senator as soon as possible.
According to him, there is no case against De Lima.
“FREE SEN LEILA DE LIMA IMMEDIATELY!! There are is NO CASE against her!!” he noted.
As expected, his post generated mixed reactions from netizens.
There were netizens who agreed with him and there were also those who insist that the former senator is facing charges.
