To recall, DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy said that the contract for the software provider for VaxCertPH expired last September 30 and they’re looking to shoulder its fees for now in order to keep releasing digital COVID-19 vaccine certificates.

During a televised briefing on Thursday, Uy said that they’re continuing the operations as the provider continued its services out of goodwill despite the expiration of the contract. He added that they’re looking for a budget in order to continue the VaxCertPH.

Uy also said that the registration is still ongoing and they still continued to issue digital COVID-19 vaccine certificates.

Hinanapan natin ng kauukulang budget para ituloy itong VaxCert na ito… Tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang registration at tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang issuance ng VaxCert. Wala namang interruption,” he said. “Ang provider ay nagmagandang-loob na magbigay ng tuloy na serbisyo kahit nag-expire ‘yung kontrata.

According to Uy, the information and technology department is preparing to turn the program over to the health department. However, the DICT will running the operations until early 2023 because the DOH acknowledged it is not yet equipped for the said program.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology developed VaxCertPH, which was also released as a mobile app, in coordination with the Department of Health.

Based on a report, at least 73.3 million people in the Philippines have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday, while 20.1 million have received their booster shots.
