An alcoholic beverage is a beverage containing ethanol, a type of alcohol that acts as a drug and is produced through the fermentation of grains, fruits, or other sugar sources.

In many cultures, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, also known as “drinking,” plays an important social role.

Most countries have laws that govern the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Some countries outright prohibit such activities, but alcoholic beverages are legal in the majority of the world.

Alcohol is a depressant that causes euphoria, reduces anxiety, and increases sociability in small doses. It causes drunkenness, stupor, unconsciousness, or death at higher doses.

Long-term use can result in an alcohol use disorder, and an increased risk of developing various types of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other health problems.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old construction worker from Misamis Oriental died after participating in a “laklak longneck challenge” by drinking a longneck bottle of alcohol in 20 seconds in exchange for P20,000.

According to the police, the victim accepted his friend’s challenge to consume a “longneck” bottle of alcohol in 20 seconds for a P20,000 prize.

After consuming the alcohol, he was later rushed to the hospital and died.

The police said that the victim has heart disease.

The victim’s cousin stated that he took part in the so-called “laklak longneck challenge” for the medical check-up of his father and to save money for his wedding this coming December.

The police investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
