The eldest son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla was arrested by the anti-drug operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency(PDEA) in Las Pias City for possession of more than P1 million worth of high-grade marijuana, or “kush”.

Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III was arrested by PDEA and Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group which include the units of the Bureau of Customs, the police, and other relevant agencies on Tuesday, October 11, after receiving a parcel containing about 1 kilo of kush with a street value of 1.3 million pesos at a house in BF Resort Village.

Following the arrest of Juanito Jose, his father DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla released a handwritten statement regarding the arrest of his son.

According to him, he would “not intervene in nor influence” any case filed against his 38-year-old son.

Here’s the official statement of Boying Remulla:

Remulla is currently in Geneva, Switzerland as he leads the Philippines’ delegation for the 51st Regular Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on the Philippines.

The justice secretary, who previously served as representative of Cavite’s 7th district, is expected to be back on Friday, Oct. 14.

Meanwhile, some internet users believe Remulla should resign as a courtesy and to ensure an independent investigation and trial, given that he leads the Department of Justice.
