Transwoman Expresses Gratitude Towards School For Allowing Her to Wear Female Uniform
A transwoman has expressed her gratitude to her school for allowing her to wear a female uniform during class.
A Facebook user named Diana Montecarlo Lopez has expressed gratitude to her school for allowing her to wear a uniform that goes with her gender identity and expression. The post garnered various reactions from the netizens.
In the post, it can be seen that Lopez is wearing a female uniform inside the school premises. She is referring to a university in City Proper, Iloilo City which reportedly ends third-gender discrimination.

Last week, Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan expressed her happiness after the Department of Education heard LGBTQIA community’s plead. DepEd will strictly implement its gender-responsive basic education policy (DEPED ORDER 32, s 2017) in all DepEd elementary and high schools nationwide.
“Through inclusion, we bring out the best in a person and we cultivate a sense of belongingness. Through inclusion, trans people and non-binary are not ‘othered’, rather, welcomed and recognized,” Habijan said.
Usec Revsee Escobedo and Asec. Panchet Bringas reportedly signed the memorandum.
“The strict implementation of and compliance to DO 32, s. 2017, especially in consideration of the upcoming opening of School Year 2022-2023 and the gradual return of learners to in-person classes,” the memorandum states.
DepEd also reminded the schools to respect students’ gender expression including their choice of clothing, language, and interests.
