Why BAYAN-EU wants to stop the release of Maid in Malacañang in Europe?
MAID IN MALACAÑANG – The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan or BAYAN – EU wanted to stop the release of the movie in Europe.
Maid in Malacañang is a movie about the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Palace.
It stars Cesar Montano as former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Diego Loyzaga as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Cristine Reyes as Senator Imee Marcos, and Ruffa Gutierrez as Imelda Romualdez Marcos and Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos.
While those portrayed as house helpers of the Marcos family are Elizabeth Oropesa as Yaya Lucy, Beverly Salviejo as Yaya Biday, and Karla Estrada as Yaya Santa.
The controversial movie hit theaters on August 3. The movie is directed by controversial director, Darryl Yap.
Meanwhile, the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan or BAYAN wants to stop the release of the movie in Europe.
In their petition, BAYAN-Europe claimed that the movie is “part of the conspiracy to whitewash the role of the Marcos family in one of the darkest epochs in Philippine history.”

The European Union has yet to issue any statement regarding the petition of BAYAN.
On the other hand, VIVA and the people behind Maid in Malacañang are yet to react to the petition as well.
Meanwhile, the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan or Bayan is an alliance of left-wing Philippine organizations. It was founded on International Workers’ Day, May 1, 1985, as part of the opposition during the Marcos dictatorship.
