A certain Menchie Marayag Antonio took to social media wherein she posted their bill from the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO).

Apparently, based on the reading, their electric bill is P1,472,973.

It is said to be far from their usual monthly bill which only reaches P1,500.

“Siyempre iyong reaction ko unang-una, sobrang kinabahan din ako gawa ng, siyempre, ordinaryong tao lang po kami tapos biglang ganoon iyong makikita mo,” she said.

“Nagulat din po ako. Nagtaka ako kasi parang ang dami niyang numbers. Tapos ayun nga po, P1.4 million nga po,” she added.

Because of this, Antonio immediately went to the CENPELCO office to report the problem.

CENPELCO responded, saying that their reader made a mistake in reading the meter.

CENPELCO apologized to the family and said they will simply conduct another meter reading to correct the family’s electric bill.

“Hindi napansin siguro o hindi na-prompt ‘yung meter reader natin na nagkaroon ng [error] doon sa pag-input niya ng number. Nagkaroon ng pagkakamali, sigurado iyon,” Engr. Rod Corpuz, General Manager of CENPELCO said.

But in Antonio’s latest post, they discovered that the meter reading made another mistake.

Antonio is hoping that CENPELCO will fix their process of checking the meters and billing before giving them to consumers.

Meanwhile, the formulas you will need to know to manually calculate your electricity bill are: Watts = (amps) x (volts) Kilowatt-hours = (watts) x (usage) / 1000. Cost = (kilowatt-hours) x (electricity rate).
