Siargao is dubbed the Surfing Capital of the Philippines.

The island which originated from Visayan word siargaw or saliargaw, a mangrove species that grows on the islands is situated 196 kilometers southeast of Tacloban.

The tear-drop-shaped island features white sand islets, pristine beaches, and other natural wonders.

Siargao Island is regularly rated as one of the top 10 surf sites in the world and it is the home of Cloud9, the name of the most famous wave in the Philippines.

Last year, it was named Asia’s best island according to the 34th Readers’ Choice Awards by US-based luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

However, recently, an unfortunate incident took place in Siargao. A water vessel unexpectedly capsized.

A group of tourists was sailing smoothly when the incident happened.

In the video, they can be seen recording a video greeting when all of a sudden the pumpboat capsized.

Some netizens said that the pumpboat capsized possibly after losing its balance when one of the operators transferred to the other side of the boat. Others suggest it might probably be due to overloading.

The whole scene was captured via video including the latter events wherein the passengers are seen trying hard not to get drowned.

The incident which was posted on the Facebook page “DUMAGUETENOS” has generated more than three (3) million views as of posting.

Fortunately, the incident resulted in zero casualties.
