Tying the knot is probably one of the most memorable moments of a couple’s lifetime.

Some weddings are grandiose but there are those who chose to keep it practical without spending much on the entourage, reception, and so on and so forth, as others would call it a “budgettarian wedding.”

Speaking of nuptials, a couple who recently tied the knot spent only 5,000 pesos on their special day.

Geejen Berlin Monreal and Jiony Jan Macabuhay spent only five thousand pesos (P5000) on their wedding.

Their reception took place at the “paresan” of the groom’s sibling in Antipolo and only 11 people were invited.

Pares is a serving of Filipino braised beef stew with garlic fried rice, and a bowl of clear soup.

In recent years, it had also become a common dish served in small eateries called karinderya or carinderia that serve economical meals for local residents.

According to the earlier report, the couple spent P390 on their civil registry, P999 on their wedding ring, and P890 on the certificate with no marriage record.

The newlywed couple said they are focusing on their future life as newlyweds as well as for their kids.

The photos of their wedding were posted on the social networking site, Facebook by Xiong Macabuhay.

The post was accompanied by the caption: “Saan aabot ang 5k pesos mo.”
