Here’s the apology of Karen Laurrie Mendoza following her controversial post
KAREN LAURRIE MENDOZA – The Binibining Pilipinas 2022 candidate took to social media wherein she apologized for her controversial post amid a mix-up issue in the pageant.
It was on Sunday, July 31 when the 58th edition of Binibining Pilipinas took place.
The grand coronation night was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
At the end of the event, Nicole Borromeo of Cebu was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas International 2022, Gabrielle Basiano of Borongan, Eastern Samar was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2022, Chelsea Fernandez of Tacloban was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022, and Roberta Tamondong of San Pablo, Laguna was crowned as Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2022.
On the other hand, Herlene Budol of Angono, Rizal, and Stacey Gabriel of Cainta, Rizal were named first and second runner-up respectively.
The pageant was hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2016 Nicole Cordoves, actor Edward Barber and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2020 Samantha Bernardo.
Apparently, the announcement of the winners has been delayed for several minutes.
Because of this, there were rumors surfacing that there might be a mix-up in the announcement of winners.
The issue sparked after Karen Laurrie Mendoza posted a photo of a piece of paper showing the names and numbers of the winners that are yet to be announced. It prompted netizens to speculate that there might be a mix-up.
But personalities connected to the Binibining Pilipinas organization denied the alleged mix-up and stressed that the results are correct.
Karen, the representative of Iloilo City, clinched the Top 12 of the national pageant. She also joined the pageant last year and ended in the Top 13.
On Sunday, August 7, she went to social media wherein she explained and apologized for her controversial post.
