DR. RAQUEL FORTUN – The forensic pathologist gave her opinion on the alleged remains of Jovelyn Galleno found earlier in Palawan.

The alleged remains of Galleno were found in Purok Pulang Lupa Bgy. Sta. Lourdes, Puerto Princesa. Her mother verified that the identification cards found at the crime scene belongs to the victim.
But some netizens suggest having DNA testing to confirm the remains found were of Galleno.
A lot of experts including Doc. Eunice Herrera, a medicolegal officer of Puerto Princesa, shared their opinion about the matter.
According to her, body decomposition may take a lot of time and process given the weather condition and other factors.
Another expert also gave her opinion about the said remains which belong to Galleno.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Fi Atencio of the City Health Department shared in detail the stages of decomposition before the corpse ends up being a skeleton.
Meanwhile, Dr. Raquel Fortun, one of the two forensic pathologists in the country, gave her opinion about the alleged remains of Galleno.
In an interview via Super Radyo, Fortun said that it is possible for a body to become a skeleton if certain conditions are combined such as the weather and if there are animals around the area.
“Possible yan, possible pero it depends on a lot of factors primarily yung environment…Kung ang katawan ay nasa ibabaw lang ng lupa, kasi exposed aside from being exposed sa araw at ulan nandyan nga yung mga hayop at pupwede nga nila ikalat,” she said.
She added that it is also possible that Galleno’s corpse cannot be smelled, especially if the wind blows in a different direction.
Meanwhile, the authorities are waiting for the result of the DNA test.
