Katips is a musical drama film written and directed by Vincent M. Tañada.

It is about a group of student activists from the Katipunan area of Quezon City who struggled to protest the imposition of nationwide martial law in the 1970s.

The film stars Jerome Ponce, Vince Tañada, Mon Confiado, Sazchna Laparan, Nicole Laurel Asensio and to name a few.

Apparently, there were netizens criticizing the movie, even calling it a flop.

On Facebook, Tañada could not help but respond to a netizen criticizing Katips.

In one of his social media posts, a netizen named Edward Juan Sy criticized the movie and compared it to its rival, Maid in Malacañang (MiM).

The netizen also claimed that the movie was “nilangaw”, adding many Kakampinks prefer to watch MiM.

Vince Tañada, a lawyer at the same time actor-director, responded to the netizen.

“Di po kami nilangaw. Kung flop dapat wala na kami sa sinehan. But now on our second week. Ang saya saya,” he said.

But the netizen didn’t stop and criticized Tañada again and called him a liar because of his joke that Katips earned 41.8-M pesos on their first day.

“Galit sa magnanakaw pero sinungaling sa income ng pelikula,” Sy said.

“Ha? Di na nga ako nagsasalita. OA mo naman hahahaa,” Tañada replied.

Until now, the netizens are waiting for how much the movie, Katips earned.
