LENI ROBREDO – The former Vice President praised the musical movie Katips.

Katips is a musical drama film written and directed by Vincent M. Tañada.

It is about a group of student activists from the Katipunan area of Quezon City who struggled to protest the imposition of nationwide martial law in the 1970s.

The film stars Jerome Ponce, Vince Tañada, Mon Confiado, Sazchna Laparan, Nicole Laurel Asensio and to name a few.

In a video posted by the Philippine Stagers Foundation, the former vice president couldn’t help but praise the musical movie.

According to her, Katips is a “wonderful piece”.

She also thanked the people behind the film.

“Mahalaga ang mensaheng dala ng inyong pelikula, lalo na sa panahong pilit na binabago at inililihis ang kasaysayan, at marami sa ating mga kababayan ang napapaniwala sa mga kasinungalingan,” she said.

Katips is still airing in select theaters nationwide. It first premiered in cinemas last August 3 along with its rival Maid in Malacañang.

Maid in Malacañang is a movie about the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Palace.

It stars Cesar Montano as former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., Diego Loyzaga as President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Cristine Reyes as Senator Imee Marcos, and Ruffa Gutierrez as Imelda Romualdez Marcos and Ella Cruz as Irene Marcos.

While those who will portray as house helpers of the Marcos family are Elizabeth Oropesa as Yaya Lucy, Beverly Salviejo as Yaya Biday, and Karla Estrada as Yaya Santa.

The movie is directed by controversial director, Darryl Yap.
