Yap is considered one of the most popular directors in the country today.

He is behind the hit movies and independent films such as #Jowable, Tililing and to name a few.

He’s also one of the staunch supporters of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., and Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.

His latest project is the controversial film, Maid in Malacañang, a movie about the last 72 hours of the Marcos family in the Palace

But who exactly is Darryl Yap?

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Darryl Yap is a graduate of Centro Escolar University in Manila with a degree in Mass Communications.

He later pursued Public Administration at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

CAREER:

He used to write stories and plays and eventually founded an independent theater group called SaWakas in Olongapo City.

Then, he ventured into producing short films including the seven-minute short film Squatterina, for which he won Best Director at the North Luzon Film Festival.

It was followed by Bago Ako Lumipad, Oyayi, Ellipsis, and After the Beep.

He rose to stardom when he launched the Facebook page, Vincentiments, which he created together with his colleague and friend Vincent Asis.

The Facebook page boomed and currently has over 5 million followers.

His most recent project is the movie about the Marcoses titled, Maid in Malacañang.
